Do Pornstars Have STDs?

It’s not uncommon for adult performers to test positive for STDs. Pornstars get tested for three different STDs and can get tested for three more. In addition to HIV, porn stars are also tested for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis. However, pornstars are not tested for Herpes. But if they do have Herpes, they probably don’t have many signs to show.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has released a report detailing the rates of gonorrhea and chlamydia among porn actors. These actors are more likely to have STDs than legal prostitutes, according to the report. A survey conducted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that 28 percent of pornstar escorts tested positive for gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Despite the high rates of STDs among porn actors, they are much less likely to be HIV-positive than prostitutes. In Nevada, for example, porn actors are required to wear condoms and undergo regular STD tests, but this is not always done. Nonetheless, there have been a number of cases of HIV among porn stars, with the rate of infection ranging from zero to one.
